Summer Wrap Up

Forgive me for not blogging for a few months, but this Summer was way to great to find time to blog! Mike and I LOVE living in the avenues, and we've been having adventure after adventure lately. We stayed busy working, studying (Mike), going on bike rides, Thursday night movies at the Capitol, Farmers Market every Saturday, perfecting our golf game (Mike), teaching Relief Society (Ang), vacationing with family, swimming at the Tennis Club, taking tons of pictures with our new camera, and exploring Salt Lake!

Thanks Grandma

I got my hair cut this past weekend. Really short.
This time I was emotionally prepared.
My grandma saw my new do and said, "You look like a Chinese girl!"
What???
Ummm..... Thank you??
I've been told I look like a lot of things, but Asian is a first.

Maybe it's a good excuse to take a trip to China.

Hi.

Okay as you can tell, our personal blog hasn't exactly been a priority lately. Maybe it's me, but after sitting at a desk, staring at a computer, and getting paid to blog all day long.... coming home and hunkering down with my trusty mac just doesn't sound so appealing. Sorry. I'd rather hang out with husband.
I was thinking about journaling today and realized that I'm failing in all aspects to document life as I know it right now. I have every intention of pulling out my journal sometime soon... but this just seemed like an easier, quicker method. I apologize for using the whole list format again... you get what you get though. Maybe it will inspire me to want to blog more. This is for you, Brooke.

1. We got a new baby, named Nikki. We love her.
2. We celebrated Mike's birthday! We went to the Bees Game and I made him pot roast for dinner, per his request. (Who wants pot roast for their birthday?)

3. We went on a vacation to San Francisco! We ATE. We TOURED. We SHOPPED. We CONQUERED.

Complete with Bike Riding in Golden Gate Park.....

Enjoying public Transit....

Alcatraz.....

A Giants game at AT&T Park....(don't mind my bangs... I told Mike we can never live in SF because the weather doesn't cooperate with my unruly hair)

Delicious Crab.......

Wicked!!

Chinatown......

Typical San Fran Weather......

More delicious food......

Making it this close to the Golden Gate Bridge......(then giving up because we were starving)

And of course sundaes at Ghirardelli Square!

4. We moved to a darling apartment in the Avenues, right next to Memory Grove!
And I went from having a closet this size....

To this size.......

and we LOVE it.

5. We celebrated MY birthday!
Complete with a huge family birthday party my mom threw.. and surprises all weekend from my cute husband.

That's all for now. Life is good.

Back from hibernation.

Yes, we're still alive. And deliriously happy. Here's what we've been up to lately:

1. We got Married December 12, 2009. My grandpa sealed us in the Salt Lake Temple, and later that night we had a celebration at the downtown Marriott Hotel. Best day of my life.

2. We went on a cruise to the Bahamas for our honeymoon! We snorkeled, parasailed, played cards on the beach, explored private islands, ate local cuisine, and loved each other. So fun.

3. We moved into our house! We are living in my aunt and uncle's house in Bountiful while they try to sell it. We shovel snow and make it look pretty for people that walk through in exchange for free rent. Thanks Matt and Beth!
4. Spent Christmas at the Hymas home! It was great to be back home after being on my mission for the past two Christmas'. We went to family parties, played tons of games, and ate delicious food. It was great, but Mike and I were grateful for our Queen bed at home after sleeping on a full for a few nights.

5. We are teaching Sunday School to the 12 year old's in our ward. I come close to wetting my pants every time we teach because they are the funniest kids I've ever met.
6. Spent a weekend babysitting Mike's oldest brother Adam's three kids (under the age of 5). Great experience. Adorable children. Decided we like birth control for a while longer.
7. Had a great 1st year married Valentines weekend together. Mike surprised me with ice skating, dinner at an amazing sushi restaurant in Park City, and a stay at a condo in Heber.
8. Husband scored an amazing new job at St. Marks Hospital. Yay!!
9. Love my new hobbies. I've been busy taking a Fish Preparation Class at Sur La Table and a Pottery Class every week with my mom. Maple Glazed salmon anyone?

I love bandaids.

I love teaching the 6 year old primary kids at church. Sometimes I think that they understand the gospel better than adults. They just get it. No wonder we are supposed to become like little children. They are so humble, so believing, so trusting, so forgiving, so compassionate, and so dependent on God.
Today, in class Paige said, "I think that Jesus is like a bandaid. They both heal you."
Wow. Thanks, Paige. Well said.

goodbye witch

Mostly, this post is because I'm sick of seeing that hideous witch picture every time I look at my blog.
I'm sure you are too.
We got our 2nd round of engagement pictures back.
They are fabulous. We love.
Kelly at Gallery Photography is amazing. Check him out.
