Words to live by
One Saturday morning a few weeks ago, my friend Brooke and I were exploring thrift shops in a quiet Soho neighborhood. There were only a handful of people out, and we were enjoying the tranquility that is seemingly impossible to find in the city. Suddenly, out of nowhere (I'm still not exactly sure where they came from), a group of boistrous men sporting wife beaters and gold jewelry started parading down the street, fully equipped with a couple of boom boxes blasting euro dance party music. They ventured down the street with purpose- on rollerblades, bicycles, skateboards, and yes, even big wheels. They started cheering, campaigning, and shouting at me and the other four people in sight. It was incredible. These were grown men. Men uniting as one. For a cause that they believed in. "What was this Cause?" you might ask. I have absolutely no idea. However, as the last man peddled away we caught site of a home-made poster taped to the back of his shirt. In big block letters it read, ' BECOME YOUR DREAM'. So there it is folks. Free advice to live by from these NYC visionaries.
